How long will process take?
It really depends on how quickly you make the necessary changes to meet the standard. Some meet the required standard within a week and it may typically take between 1-4 weeks. Talk to our team if you need any further guidance.
What is the cost of accreditation?
As a means of ensuring that accreditation fees are as inclusive as possible, our accreditation fees are scaled according to the revenue of the organisation. For the latest fees, please contact us. Concessions are available for registered charities, state educational institutions, select public agencies, environmental groups, and small businesses.
How long is the accreditation for?
1-3 years. Before your current accreditation expires, you can get started on the next accreditation cycle. We will work with you to make sure everything is in place so that your accreditation doesn’t expire between cycles.
What's the minimum recommended level of carbon per page?
A minimum level of 1 gram of carbon is considered achievable for most existing websites and serves as a practical starting point for carbon reduction efforts. EFWA plans to introduce a new grading system aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of websites further than that.
What if the website is not green-hosted?
By selecting a hosting service that is entirely powered by renewable energy, you can significantly reduce your website’s emissions. You can switch to a recognised green-host within the first six months of accreditation. We do not provide any hosting services.
How can I take responsibility for my website's carbon?
Taking responsibility for your website's carbon emissions is easy. You can go beyond the actual carbon footprint for the year for the website. Achieve below-zero emissions for your website, through insetting or high-integrity, science-backed project marketplace of nature-based solutions that remove carbon, restore biodiversity and improve livelihoods. You may opt to do so directly or we take care of this for you as part of the accreditation.
